Prof. Daniel B. da Costa, born in Fortaleza, Brazil, in 1981, has made significant contributions to
telecommunications. He earned his B.Sc. from the Military Institute of Engineering, Rio de Janeiro, in
2003, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Campinas in 2006 and 2008, respectively. His
Ph.D. thesis received the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in Electrical Engineering from Brazil’s CAPES.
Prof. da Costa held positions at INRS-EMT (Canada), Federal University of Ceará (Brazil), National
Yunlin University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), and Technology Innovation Institute (UAE)
before joining King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, as
Distinguished University Professor.
Renowned for his leadership, Prof. da Costa is Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Communications Letters
and Specialty Chief Editor of the Frontiers in Communications and Networks – Wireless
Communications Section. He was the Coordinator for Latin American Chapters of IEEE Vehicular
Technology Society. His global contributions span research, editorial leadership, and technical
committees. Prof. da Costa has received seven conference paper awards, numerous exemplary
reviewer and editor accolades, and recognition as a Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University
