Muhammad Ilyas currently serves as Superintendent, Process Design Engineering, within the Projects and Engineering Systems function in the Engineering Department at Sadara Chemical Company. He brings 25 years of experience across the petrochemical, refinery, gas processing, and EPC sectors. With Sadara for over 12 years, Muhammad has extensive expertise in the analysis, design and standards of static equipment including exchangers, pressure vessels and knockout drums. Previously he was the Superintendent of Process Engineering for the Hydrocarbon and Energy Unit, where he supported plant operations. Muhammad was a key contributor during the startup of Sadara’s Mixed Feed Cracker and has since led several initiatives to improve cracker unit operations including the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study for an additional Gas Furnace. He has completed numerous FEED and EPC projects, carried out plant troubleshooting and optimization and provided process engineering support during Sadara’s commissioning and startup. He has also presented technical papers at industry forums such as EMET, MEPEC and ME-TECH. Muhammad holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from University of the Punjab Lahore Pakistan.
